CJM denies bail in Bitcoin scam

JAMMU, May 9: CJM Jammu Ashwani Sharma has rejected the bail application of Santosh Kumar, a resident of Delhi, who was arrested by the Police Station Trikuta Nagar in alleged about Rs 22 crore Bitcoin scam.
After hearing Senior PO Rohit Gupta with PO Arvind Jamwal for the State whereas Advocate M R Daing for the accused, the court observed, “the accused along with his wife and Manager Arun Kumar has duped the complainant and embezzled Rs 22 crore”, adding “the accused is involved in the commission of economic offence and the allegations against the accused are serious in nature and the public money is involved in the commission of offence particularly that of the complainant”.
“While deciding a bail application the larger interests of the state are to be taken into consideration by the court, viz-a-viz the individual interest”, CJM said while rejecting the bail application.
