UDHAMPUR, May 21: In a tragic incident, a class 10th student drowned while taking bath in Tawi River, here today.
Identity of the drowned boy was established as Vishav (16), son of Bishan Dass, resident of Ward number 3, Adarsh Colony Udhampur. He along with his friend was purportedly taking bath in the Tawi River near Cheeri Sail Udhampur, when he slipped into deep water and drowned.
After getting an information in this regard, a Police party from Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Raghuvir Singh and NDRF team rushed to the spot. A search operation was launched during which the body was fished out.
Police party took the dead body to District Hospital Udhampur for postmortem and other legal formalities. Later, body of the deceased was handed over to the family members.
Udhampur Police have registered a case in this connection under section 174 CrPC for further investigation.
