JAMMU, July 21: A 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Pounichak area of city outskirts.
“In a fit of rage after being snubbed by her parents over some issue, a class 9th student identified as Reet Kumari, daughter of Vinod Kumar, resident of Gole Panj Pir, allegedly consumed some consumed some poisonous substance at her residence late last night”, a police official said.
He said in unconscious condition, the family members rushed the girl to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared her as brought dead. “Today after conducting postmortem, the body of the girl was handed over to her legal heirs”, the official said, adding, concerned police had initiated inquest proceeding under 174 CrPC in the case.
