Class XI student hospitalized after beaten up by teacher

UDHAMPUR, Dec 18: Following some tiff with his female classmate, a student of class XI was severely beaten up by his teacher in a Government school and had to be admitted in hospital.
The incident took place today at Government Higher Secondary School Majalta where a student namely Rohit Singh was thrashed up by Lecturer Rakesh Kumar resulting into serious injuries to the former.
Later Rohit was admitted to Primary Health Centre Majalta where doctors referred him to District Hospital Udhampur and later to Government Medical College Jammu in view of serious injuries.
According to the reports, Rohit Singh had allegedly fallen on a female classmate while getting up from his desk following which the girl student slapped the former. As soon as the matter came into the notice of Lecturer Rakesh Kumar, he started beating up Rohit Singh and left him semi-unconscious.
Up in arms over the incident of merciless beating, other students of the school reportedly boycotted their classes and held a demonstration, They called on Tehsildar Amir Chowdhary and demanded stern action against the lecturer. Later a case was also registered at Majalta Police Station but no arrest was made till the last reports came in.
According to CEO Udhampur Balbir Singh,  Additional CEO  Udhampur has been directed to look into the matter and submit him a report in this regard by tomorrow. “Any body, ,if found guilty, will be punished according to law”, he added
“Police is investigating the matter so as to whether the student abused the girl or not and the statement of other students and staff is also being recorded. Law will definitely take its own course and no one will be spared”, said Arjun Singh Chib, SHO Majalta.
