JAMMU, Nov 20: Amul in association with Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Limited (JKMPCL) celebrated National Milk Day with immense zeal and enthusiasm at their Satwari dairy plant with an impressive ceremony of ‘Clean Fuel Rally 2024’, honouring the contributions of Dr Verghese Kurien, the “Milk Man of India.”
The event witnessed the presence of Ramesh Kumar (Divisional Commissioner Jammu), Ashok Kumar Anugurana (chairman JKMPCL), Manjeet Singh (Regional Manager, Sales- Bajaj Auto Limited) and Abhishek Sharma (Zonal Incharge, Chandigarh Zone- Amul) who together flagged off the rally, sending a group of dedicated bikers on their journey to Delhi.
The rally, organized by Amul in collaboration with Bajaj Auto, aims to highlight Dr Kurien’s contributions to India’s dairy sector. The Clean Fuel Rally spans 783 kilometers, passing through major cities such as Jammu, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Karnal, Rohtak, and concluding in Delhi on 26th November – celebrated nationwide as National Milk Day.
This initiative seeks to introduce young people to the various institutions established by Dr Kurien across India, raise awareness about sustainability, promoting the use of Bio CNG to create a circular economy that benefits farmers and improves our environment.
Chairman JKMPCL emphasized the importance of initiatives like the Clean Fuel Rally in spreading awareness about sustainable practices. “By promoting Bio-CNG, we not only contribute to a cleaner environment but also honour Dr Kurien’s legacy of uplifting farmers and ensuring their economic well-being.”
The rally participants, a group of enthusiastic bikers, began their journey amidst cheers and encouragement from the gathered crowd of students, JKMPCL and Amul staff members. They will engage with local communities at various stops, sharing knowledge about Dr Kurien’s contributions and the benefits of clean energy.
Chirag Bhensdadia, Chief Executive Officer, JKMPCL emphasized the pivotal role of cooperation in fostering growth in the dairy sector. He reiterated JKMPCL’s commitment to supporting and empowering milk producers.
