JAMMU, Oct 1: All Central as well as J&K Government departments and other organizations today organized cleanliness drives across Jammu and Kashmir, under ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign launched by Government of India to pay homage to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma and Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar actively took part in a mega cleanliness drive organized by National Highways Authority of India (Regional Office, Jammu) in collaboration with District Administration Jammu at general Bus-stand Jammu under Swachhta Pakhwada 3.0. RO NHAI P Shiva Shanker also participated in the drive during which participants cleaned the premises and surroundings of the General Bus-stand Jammu. While speaking on the occasion, Jugal Kishore Sharma laid stress on the importance of maintaining hygiene in our surroundings.
In keeping with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta” campaign aimed at promoting cleanliness across India, BJP MP Gulam Ali Khatana participated in a cleanliness campaign in Surankote (Poonch). He said that cleaning the surroundings is a true swacchanjali to Mahatma Gandhi, who dedicated his life to non-violence, peace and equality.
A massive Swachhata Abhiyan under the directions of Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, N Kotiswar Singh, was carried out in both the wings of High Court of J&K and Ladakh and all the District Courts of the UTs, in which the Judicial Officers, Staff members, Security Personnels, outsource workers and PLVs participated with full enthusiasm and voluntarily cleaned the Court premises from within and outside by devoting one hour Shram Daan. At High Court wing Srinagar, the drive was led by Shahzad Azeem (Registrar General) while as at Jammu the same was spearheaded by Sobha Ram Gandhi (Registrar Judicial, Jammu wing). Different teams were formed in Jammu wing which were headed by Registry Officers and the campaign started from the main building Jammu wing and the teams bifurcated in different directions and while cleaning the premises converged at the main gate of the District Court complex, Jammu. Tasleem Arief (Registrar Vigilance), Rajinder Sapru (Registrar Rules), Amit Kumar Gupta (Member Secretary, JKLSA), Anoop Kumar, Registrar (IT), Faqoor Ahmad Bhat (Registrar Judicial, Srinagar wing), Prem Sagar (Secretary, HCLSA), Pravin Pandoh (Joint Registrar Judicial, Jammu wing) and Abdul Bari (Joint Registrar Judicial, Srinagar wing) also contributed in the cleanliness drive.
A massive cleanliness drive under the directions of Justice Tashi Rabstan (Judge, High Court of J&K and Ladakh), Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority (JKLSA), was carried out by all the Legal Services Institutions across J&K as a tribute to Father of the Nation. In one such drive at JDA Complex Jammu led by Amit Kumar Gupta (Member Secretary, JKLSA), Vinay Sharma SDM (Sub-Registrar, Khas), Prem Sagar (Secretary, High Court Legal Services Committee), all the staff members, PLVs and locals of the area participated. All the Legal Services Institutions across the UT of J&K also carried out various cleanliness drives in their respective premises, major crossings, prominent places having huge footfall including Dal Lake. During this drive, dustbins were also installed at various locations for keeping the area free from garbage.
Income Tax Department J&K conducted comprehensive cleanliness drives and mass awareness events across the UT. The campaign included a cleanliness drive at Dal Lake around Nishat Bagh and Makai Park in Srinagar and at Parking Lot, Opposite Vishal Mega Mart, near Aaykar Bhawan Jammu. In order to create awareness among public, a Nukkad natak was also performed by the team of Rajneesh Gupta (ITO) at Government Higher Secondary School, Khanna Chargal. The event at Srinagar was undertaken under the guidance of M P Singh (Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar) and the officers of the Department including Vandana Mohite (Commissioner of Income Tax), Shakil Ganie(Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax) and Syed Junaid Adil (Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax). A cleanliness drive was also organized by ITO Katra Vijay Chaudhary at Disha Chhatrawas, Katra- a home for orphans, destitute, single parent, terrorism affected children under the guidance of Rajiv Gubgotra, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Jammu. The cleanliness drive at Jammu was spearheaded by Commissioner of Income Tax Baljeet Kaur and Joint Commissioner of Income Tax Rahul Padha, among other officers and officials of the Department.
The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organized an awareness program and cleanliness drive at Town Hall in Pulwama. The program was organized by Field Office, Anantnag in collaboration with the Municipal Council Pulwama as part of the ‘Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ – an hour long nationwide cleanliness initiative under Swachhta Hi Seva-2023. CEO Municipal Council, Pulwama Wali Mohammad Wani said that more efforts at the individual level as well as community level are needed for achieving clean India objective.
FICCI in collaboration with Rotary Club of Jammu City organized cleanliness drive at Sector 7, Green Belt Park, Channi Himmat (Jammu) where participants engaged in an hour of dedicated cleaning and beautification activities aimed at promoting cleanliness and hygiene in the area. Rajesh Sharma (Chairman, FICCI J&K) and Robin Mehta (president, Rotary Club, Jammu City) also participated in the drive.
The cleanliness drive was also organized by Directorate of Economics & Statistics J&K in the Directorate Complex, Jammu. Satvir Kour Sudan, Director General, Economics & Statistics, J&K lead the officers and officials of the Economics & Statistics cadre in the “Shramdaan’ for cleanliness campaign. They participated in the campaign by intensive cleanliness of their respective sections.
The drive was organized in each Fire and Emergency station and command office in all districts of the UT by cleaning the offices and stations besides surrounding areas. The main event was organized at Gandhi Nagar Headquarter Jammu wherein Alok Kumar (ADGP), Director Fire and Emergency Services, himself joined the event of Swachata Abhiyaan. Similar functions were held at Range and District Headquarters.
Regional Office of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Jammu organized cleanliness drive under the supervision of Dushyant Pande (In-charge, ESIC) in Commissioner Lane, Shastri Nagar, Jammu. S K Sharma, Commissioner, Income Tax Department (Retired) was chief guest.
A cleanliness drive in and around Jammu Airport was organized today in which various stakeholders of the Airport under the leadership of Airport Director participated. Speaking on the occasion, Sanjeev Kumar Garg, Airport Director, stated the need for neat and clean environment.
The Directorate of Health Services Jammu also joined the Shramdan drive as part of Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign. Director Health Services Jammu Dr Rajeev Kumar Sharma along with all officers and officials of the Directorate took part in this campaign. All the employees of the Directorate conducted cleanliness drive in the office premises and the surrounding areas.
BJP Mahila Morcha J&K chief spokesperson, Ritika Trehan participated in Swachhta Hi Seva campaign being celebrated from 15th September to 2nd October this year for undertaking Shramdaan activities to reinforce the concept of sanitation. She said that from the ramparts of Red Fort, PM Modi launched this mission of transforming India into a ‘Swachh Bharat’.
Jammu and Kashmir Police under the theme ‘Swachhata Pakhwada-Swachhata Hi Seva’ organized massive cleanliness (Shramdaan) drives across the Union Territory. The nationwide campaign for cleanliness and sanitation was held at all JK Police establishments across the UT, aimed to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the area.
Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) Vijaypur organized a cleanliness drive in the Institute and its adjoining area. During the cleanliness drive, entire premises and adjoining area of the campus was cleaned-up by staff and trainees of the Institute, under the guidance of Shiv Kumar, Principal PTTI Vijaypur.
‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ campaign was organized at NABH accredited Rari Jammu campus in collaboration with CRPF Group Centre Bantalab. The Institute incharge Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh (Assistant Director Ayurveda) and Rajesh (Deputy Commandant CRPF) encouraged participants and the team. Talat Anjum coordinated the program.
District Treasury Samba, District Fund Office Samba and Sub-Treasury Vijaypur jointly carried out a cleanliness drive near Chichi Mata Temple and collected polythene bags, bottles, wrappers and other biodegradable items, littered in and around the temple. District Treasury Officer Nidhi Gupta, District Fund Officer Dr Rahilla Parveen, Treasury Officer Vijaypur Shivraj Singh, Superintendent Madan K Dubey and other staff participated in the drive.
As a special measure towards Swachhata Campaign 3.0 and Customer outreach, EPFO, Jammu supports its facilitation centre and grievances and issues of stakeholders heard by P F Commissioner himself along with a dedicated team for previous one week.
Rizwan Uddin, PF Commissioner, J&K Ladakh along with team EPFO, Jammu rode bicycle from EPFO, Jammu to JKSRTC, Bus Depot, Railway Road, Jammu, where massive cleanliness drive was carried out at Bus Depot in association with employees of JKRTC. Team EPFO rode bicycles to venue to promote cause of “Health and Environment”. Mukesh Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Amit Jakhmola, Pranav Gupta, Rajander Kumar, Ajay brought their bicycles for the event.
The Municipal Council of Rajouri, under the leadership of its president Mohammed Arif started the Garbage Free Rajouri Town Campaign. The campaign was jointly launched in each of Rajouri’s wards with the active assistance of respective ward councilor.
A massive cleanliness drive was organized today at Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal (Jammu). The drive was led by Jail staff and inmates alongside the inspirational participation and supervision of Senior Superintendent of the Central Jail.
On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, 79 Battalion CRPF celebrated Swachhta Pakhwada in Sonwar Srinagar, under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Today’s special culmination event of Swachchta Pakhwada commenced by Shramdan in the foothill area of Shankaracharya hills and Syed Hanifiya Dargah area by Ajay Kumar Yadav (IG CRPF, Srinagar Sector), Kishore Kumar (Commandant, 79 Bn CRPF) and other officers and personnel of the Battalion.
Regional Office of National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) organized a cleanliness drive along the National Highway-144A (Jammu -Akhnoor Road) under the chairmanship of Executive Director (Projects), Col Sandeep Sudhera (Retired). During the drive, NHIDCL officials clean the maximum number of road side dhabas, wayside amenities, etc and fill potholes along the National Highway.
Under Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, cleanliness drives were organized in Super Speciality Hospital, Jammu led by Medical Superintendent Dr Manoj Chalotra and Maternity Hospital Gandhi Nagar led by Medical Superintendent Arun Sharma. All the staff members of the Hospitals participated in the drives and clean different sections of their respective hospitals and surrounding areas.
Jagti Migrants Welfare Movement and a large number of other social organizations and various Government officials including officials of Sub District Hospital Jagti launched a cleanliness drive in Jagti Township and requested the camp dwellers to keep the surroundings of the camp neat and clean. Sunil Pandita (president, Jagti Welfare Movement), T K Dhar (chairman) and Dr Sanjay Raina (Medical Superintendent, SDH Jagti) participated in the drive.
A mega cleanliness drive was organized by IRP 18th Battalion DPL Jammu under the guidance of Commandant of the Battalion Kulbir Singh (SSP) from Balidan Stambh to Qasim Nagar Chowk. The drive was attended by GOs, NGOs and other officials of IRP 18th Battalion. During the drive, both the tubes of Qasim Nagar Road were cleaned.
NHPC organized a Shramdaan programme for cleanliness campaign under Swachhata Pakhwada under the leadership of Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC. The senior NHPC officers and employees performed Shramdaan by running a cleanliness drive in the historic Mughal Bridge over Budhia Wala Nala, Santosh Nagar and surrounding areas in Faridabad.
Nowshera Forest Division organized cleanliness and plantation drives in all three forest ranges including Sunderbani town, Gurudwara Sahib at Thandapani, Bowli at Thandapani, Rajal and Kalal areas with active participation of PRI members, children, senior citizens, women, CRPF & BSF personnel and officials of many other departments, under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera Satyendra Mourya and Conservator of Forest West Circle Rajouri Vivek Verma.
BJP Kargil Unit’s ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign resonated loud in District Hospital Kargil. Under Ashok Koul’s leadership, the BJP showcased commitment to community hygiene by organizing a cleanliness drive in the Hospital.
The Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA) along with others organized a cleanliness drive. The initiative was taken in partnership with the Department of National Career Services Centre for Differently-Abled, Government of India, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment, along with the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), KWT, and NLCO. Volunteers from these associations and staff from these departments gathered in Nawabgh Kalla Mohalla, Lal Bazar and collected waste and garbage that had accumulated on the streets.
The staff and the students of Government Hari Singh Higher Secondary School (GHHSS) Camp Bohri Jammu came together and participated in the mega cleanliness drive and dedicated one hour to clean the entire school premises and the surroundings. All the staff members and the students took part in the drive under the overall supervision of Incharge of the Institution, Meenakshi Koul.
IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar conducted a cleanliness drive at the site selected for Shramdaan in collaboration with Archeological Survey of India (ASI). The site selected for the Shramdaan was Akhoon Mulla Shah Mosque, an ASI protected monument, located in the vicinity of Makhdoom Shrine, Srinagar. The ‘Ek Tareekh-Ek Ghanta’ cleanliness drive started as per the programme in which staff of IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar and employees of ASI participated. The cleanliness drive was led by Regional Director IGNOU Srinagar, Dr Shahnawaz Ahmad Dar and Superintending Archeologist Srinagar circle, Farhat.
The Office of Dean Students’ Welfare, Central University of Jammu in collaboration with NSS and NCC and under the patronage of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor participated in ‘Ek Dinank Ek Ghanta’ campaign under Swachhta Hi Seva programme today. The Registrar along with the faculty members, employees and students participated in the cleanliness Abhiyaan.
As a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his birth anniversary, an elaborate cleanliness drive was organized at University of Jammu on 1st of October, 2023 under the aegis of Swachhata Pakhwada – Swachhta Hi Seva, 2023. The drive, which was organized by the Department of Students Welfare, was conducted on the university campus and hostels and was conducted by the teachers, students, scholars, staff, NSS volunteers of Campus Units 1 and 4, Cultural Representatives and members of the Campus Cultural Committee. It was led by Prof. Sarika Manhas, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee in coordination with Prof. Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare and Prof. Monika Chadha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee. Prominent amongst those who attended the drive included Dr. Seema Rohmetra, I/C Director, Gandhian Centre for Peace & Conflict Studies, University of Jammu, Dr. Shallu Sehgal, Dr. Neelam Chowdhary, Dr. Harish Dutt, Dr. Sarabjeet Kour, Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Dr. Mandeep Singh and Sumeet Sharma.
As a part ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ a cleanliness drive ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta’ was undertaken at Girls Hostel premises in Jammu University under the guidance of Provost Girls Hostel, followed by pledge. Dr Chinmoyee, Warden, SNGH discussed about the necessity to keep our surrounding and planet clean.
As a part of the ongoing Swachhta Hi Seva (SHS) 2023 campaign themed ‘Garbage-Free India’, NSS & SBA units of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University organized a mega cleanliness drive and an oath ceremony in the campus. Staff members and students participated in Shramdaan, contributing voluntary labour to SBM activities in the University campus. Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor of the University said that taking inspiration from Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s clarion call for Swachhata, the BGSBU has collectively and with determination participated in this nationwide campaign Swachhta Hi Seva-2023.
‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign was observed by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu under the theme ‘Garbage Free India’. The institute organized a cleanliness drive ‘Ek Tareek Ek Ghanta’ as part of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign today 10 am in its campus at Jagti and transit campus at Canal Road Jammu. Swachhata pledge was administered in the presence of Prof. B.S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) conducted Swachhta Hi Seva programme with ‘ Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ campaign at Dogra Haat in Chetar village of Reasi with the co-ordination of JKRLM. The programme was attended by a number of women farmers of the area. The cleanliness drive was conducted to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. The campaign on cleanness derive was organized under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N Tripathi and Director Extension, Prof. S.K Gupta of SKUAST-J.
As part of nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Government Degree College Kunjwani/ Sainik Colony Jammu organized a cleanliness drive at Peer Baba Kanju Sahib Dargah in Kunjwani. The event saw enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, students and locals. Principal of the College Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo in his inaugural address highlighted the importance of cleanliness and Swachhta Hi Seva.
GDC Khour organized a cleanliness drive in the College campus today under the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign, the theme of which was ‘Garbage Free India’. Staff members and students of the College participated in the drive and various cleanliness activities under Shramdaan were held in different blocks, footpaths and playfield of the College. The whole event was organized by Prof. Surinder Sharma under the guidance of Dr. T.K Sharma, Principal of the College.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit-Prabha of Government Degree College Ramgarh organized ‘Swachhata Drive’ on ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’. The drive was carried out in the College premises as well as College’s adopted village ‘Kalah’ and this was followed by a pledge on ‘Swachhata Abhiyaan’. The entire programme was carried out under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College.
NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Govt. Degree College Vijaypur in collaboration with ECO-Club and IQAC organized a cleanliness drive in and around the College campus under the observance of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign initiated by the Government of India to promote the importance of cleanliness and sanitation in the country and to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Vandana Gupta, Principal of the College.
GDC Ramnagar organized a mega cleanliness drive, intra-college symposium, poster making competition etc to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti celebrations under the guidance of Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal GDC Ramnagar. The programme started with pledge on Swachhta Abhiyan by College Principal, Dr. Bhavnaish Chand. A rally was organized after which a symposium was held.
The NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College Marheen organized a cleanliness drive under Swachhta Hi Seva. The programme was organized under the supervision of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Anupama Gupta who talked about the importance of better hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness of our surroundings.
Degree College Dharmari celebrated Swachhta Pakhwada by conducting various activities throughout the week. The NSS Unit of College conducted two events on Swachhta. First event was conducted in the form of a targeted cleanliness drive at market place Saunchal Gali and the second event was in the form cleanliness cum awareness campaign which was led by Dr. Mohd Akhtar on behalf of the College along with NSS volunteers. These events were conducted under supervision of Principal Dr. Preetpal Kour.
As a ‘Swachchanjali’ (tribute) to Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his 154th birth anniversary, a Swachchta drive within and around Degree College Udhampur was organized along with a pledge ceremony by NSS Units of the College in collaboration with NCC Battalions. The event was organized under the overall supervision of Principal and Chairperson NSS, Prof. (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta.
As part of the ongoing Gandhi Jayanti celebrations and ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign, various activities were organized at GDC Ghagwal by National Services Scheme (NSS) unit ‘Ankuram’ of GDC Ghagwal. These included a cleanliness drive for which Arpan Pangotra, Sarpanch encouraged the students. Principal Dr. Sujata Slathia also participated in the cleanliness drive and while speaking on the occasion she said that Gandhiji’s economic ideas are not only a part of our history but also a source of inspiration for building a just and equitable society.
Girls NCC Unit of Government Degree College R.S. Pura along with the NSS unit organized cleanliness drive under ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta’ under theme ‘Garbage Free India’ as part of Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign-2023. The event was organized under the patronage of Principal Prof Rajni Bhagat and under the supervision of Bindu Kumari, NSS PO & Lt. Shaveta Chowdhary, ANO, Girls NCC.
In continuation to its activities under Swachhta Hi Seva campaign, NSS volunteers of GDC Kathua organized cleanliness drive. Principal GDC Kathua, Prof. Seema Mir along with the staff members and others started the cleanliness drive in college campus. The event culminated with Swacchta pledge.
Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu organized a series of activities under ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign under the guidance of Directorate of Skill Development Department J&K. A cleanliness drive under ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ was organized today. Arun Bangotra, Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu, along with students and staff participated in the campaign.
Govt. ITI Jammu and Women ITI Jammu organized ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign as a part of massive cleanliness drive led by officers/officials of Skill Development Department. Prominent among those present on the occasion were Sudershan Kumar, Director Skill Development Department J&K, G.M Bhat, Joint Director, Skill Development Department, Nazir Ahmed Molvi, National Vice President, all India GITIUFA/President J&K ITI Employees United Front.
A cleanliness drive was conducted at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar Jammu under Swachhta Hi Seva campaign. The drive was aimed at creating awareness and promoting hygiene among the students. The event was organized under the guidance of Anu Bhardwaj, Principal of the School.
GK Educational Trust enthusiastically participated in Swachhata Abhiyan, a nationwide cleanliness and environmental awareness campaign. Students of GK Educational Trust organized a series of events and initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility. Throughout the campaign, activities like clean-up drives, awareness programs, plantation drives etc were organized. Chairman GK Educational Trust, Gourav Khajuria encouraged the students and staff members for success in such campaigns.
Swachhta Hi Seva campaign was organized with the directions of District Administration Samba at ‘The Pathseekers International School’ with the aim to create cleanliness awareness among students, staff members and other stakeholders of the society. The campaign was kicked off by S. Bhupinder Singh, SSP Rtd. (Chairman, Pathseekers Group) and Manpreet Kaur (Principal, Pathseekers) by conducting a mega Swachhata drive in School premises at Ramgarh.
Kendriya Vidyalaya number 1, Gandhi Nagar Jammu actively participated in ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath’ initiative today aligning with Swachhta Hi Seva campaign. Principal, staff and students of KV No.1 along with the staff from KVS RO Jammu, joined hands for a cleanliness drive encompassing KV1 and the adjacent Gole Market area and Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Amit Walter, Principal of KV No.1, students and staff of KV1 and KVS RO Jammu Region dedicated one hour towards this campaign.
The event ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath’ under Swachhta Hi Seva campaign was held at KV Kathua. The chief guest was M.N Singh, Retd. ADC Revenue, Kathua and member VMC, KV Kathua. Staff members and NCC cadets participated in this one hour Shramdaan event which was undertaken at the link road just outside the premises of KV Kathua.
Jawahar Navodhya Vidyalaya Gharota organized cleanliness drive under Swachhta Hi Seva campaign. Under the guidance of Principal S.K Bhat and Vice Principal, Taranjeet Singh students and staff rendered service for ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath’ to clean the School premises.
