JAMMU, Nov 25: Chairman, Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra today instructed the officers of Social Welfare Department to clear all the pending pension cases of widows so that they are be able to get pension benefits under various schemes launched by the Government for their welfare.
These directions were passed by Chairman while receiving the status of the widow pension cases from Director, Social Welfare Jammu Mr Bhatti, here, today.
The Director presented detailed account of the schemes meant for weaker sections of the society including those meant for widows and SC category.
The Chairman asked him to speed up the process of distributing sewing machines to the needy families besides establishment of tailoring centre and other cases pending with the department. He said that upliftment of weaker sections of society remains a top priority of the Government and asked Director, Social Welfare to clear all cases so that maximum number of families are brought under the ambit of the welfare schemes launched in social welfare sector.
