JAMMU, Sept 17: A delegation of owners of Small Scale Industries today met KK Sharma, Advisor to Governor and apprised him of their sufferings due to non-release of their payments by Power Development Department (PDD) and SICOP.
Led by Lalit Mahajan, the delegation told Advisor that many Micro and Small units had supplied material to the Chief Engineer (P&MM) PDD and SICOP under Saubhagya and allied schemes but even after more than 9 months of supply, their pending payments worth crores of rupees have still not been cleared by the department for the reasons best known to them.
The delegation members said that their association has left no stone unturned for getting the payment but the authorities at the helm of affairs have done nothing except giving assurances time and again. They said that many units have been closed due to non-receipt of overdue payments from J&K PDD and as a result the financial institutions from whom working capital has been borrowed, have given auction notices to the units for their inability to repay the borrowed money.
The members of the delegation appealed Advisor KK Sharma to intervene into the matter and issue immediate appropriate directions to PDD authorities to save their units from auctioning.
