SRINAGAR, Dec 28: CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today expressed deep concern over the disruption caused by the snowfall in the Kashmir valley, which has severely impacted daily life and exposed the administration’s lack of preparedness despite prior weather forecasts.
Pertinent to mention that the first snowfall of the season has led to massive power breakdown, road blockades, scarcity of essential commodities and water-logging, creating significant hardships for the people.
Criticizing the administration’s inadequate response, Tarigami highlighted the plight of rural areas where roads remain uncleared, worsening public sufferings.
In a statement issued here today, Tarigami urged the government to take immediate steps for clearance of snow-covered roads, restoration of damaged power lines and ensure a steady supply of emergency services.
“The biting cold and prolonged power outages in south Kashmir, have plunged entire areas into darkness,” he said and urged the authorities to ensure the availability of basic amenities and address the challenges brought by the snowfall, as people continue to face severe hardships.
