Closely monitor developmental schemes: DDC to Sarpanchs

RAMBAN, July 1: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ramban, Shabir Ahmad Bhat today impressed upon the Sarpanchs and Panchs to closely monitor the implementation and execution of different schemes and programmes.
Addressing a meeting organized to discuss the devolution of powers to the Panchayati Raj Institutions, Mr Bhat, “in case of any deficiency is noticed, the same should be immediately brought to the notice of district officer concerned and also to District Development Commission so that immediate corrective measures could be taken”.
Stating that Government was serious about devolution of powers to PRIs, he assured the Sarpanches and Panchs that the district administrative would leave no stone unturned to ensure devolution of powers in respect of 14 Departments. “The administration would hold meetings with Sarpanches and Panchs at regular intervals to review the implementation of developmental schemes and also seek feed-back about the delivery of all essential services in the district”, he added.
In the meeting, Sarpanchs of all the 124 Panchayats put forth their opinions and suggestions with regard to the devolution of powers to the PRIs.
The DDC exhorted upon the District Officers of all the 14 Departments to consult and ensure participation of Panchayats in making plans and schemes at the Panchayat level.
While expressing grave concern over the increasing indulgence of youth in drug addiction, the DDC called for massive awareness programme against harmful effects of the drugs through the PRIs. He also exhorted upon the Sarpanchs that they should discharge their social responsibility so that future generation is saved from the effects of drugs.
