Relief being distributed among fire victims of Muthi on Sunday.

JAMMU, Nov 11: To provide immediate succor to the slum dwellers who suffered a total loss and whose Juggis perished in devastating fire over two days back at Muthi, Swami Kumar Ji Geeta Satsang Ashram and some other social organizations provided immediate relief to them.
The relief was distributed among them by BJP National Executive Member & its State Chief Spokesperson, Dr. Jitendra Singh along with Swami Kumarji. They were associated with president Pir Panchal Ramesh Hangloo and social activist Balbir Ram also. The relief items included blankets, clothes, kitchen utensils and ration items. These slum dwellers had suffered total loss of their belongings in the fire.
Swami Kumarji, while expressing sympathy with the affected families, said that these people are already suffering on account of their poor financial position and this fire has gutted their kucha houses and destroyed even items of basic need. He appealed the society to come forward with help because God always watched us on such occasions to see how we respond.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that on the eve of Deepawali when lakhs are being spent on merry-making, it is pathetic to see the plight of these poor slum dwellers who barely manage their survival on day to day basis through their meager earnings and this fire has consumed whatever little they had earned and saved for living. He appreciated the initiative of Swami Kumarji and the Geeta Satsang Ashram in coming forward to help these people, which had also inspired several local activists to lend their voluntary support while government agencies were too preoccupied with other priorities.
The slum-dwellers, who belonged mostly to other states and had come to J&K in search of job as laborers, were overwhelmed to receive the timely help.
Youth leader Mukesh Sharma contributed roof-cover sheets (Tarpal) which he had arranged through his own resources.
