JAMMU, June 6: Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) organised an online interactive discussion on restoring ecosystem.
Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu inaugurated the event. He opined that it is remarkable that the people in Vedic times regarded nature and environment in a holistic manner and revered each of its constituents and entities by carefully preserving them. It is a day to remind ourselves across the globe to respect and acknowledge everything that the environment has given us and not take it for granted. He further stressed that the day also gives an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by communities, enterprises and individuals in preserving and enhancing the environment.
Dr. Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare CLUJ in her welcome address exhorted that the theme of World Environment Day 2021 ‘Reimagine, Recreate, Restore’ is based on Ecosystem Restoration, which is a 10-year plan to work on stopping environmental degradation.
Dr. CM Seth a renowned environmentalist of Jammu and Kashmir and Om Prakash Vidyarthi a noted environmental campaigner and writer were the keynote speakers.
