JAMMU, Oct 10: Yuvtarang 2019- the mega cultural / literary contest, organized by the Office of Dean Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu, commenced today at Government SPMR College of Commerce.
Students from all five constituent colleges of CLUJ: GCW, MAM , GCOE ,SPMR and GGM and PGI Schools of Sciences, Social Sciences, Education , Engineering and Computer Technology and Liberal Arts and Humanities are participating in the contest.
Prof Poonam Dhawan, Dean Academic Affairs, Cluster University of Jammu and Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar, graced the Prize Distribution Ceremony of the first day of Literary activities-Saahityam along with Dr Anil Gupta, Principal SPMR College . Dr Geetanjali A Rana, Dean Arts was also present on the occasion.
Dr Twinkle Suri , Dean Students Welfare briefed the Schedule of Yuvtarang that spreads into three categories: Saahityam (Literati) , Sanrachna (Creative and Fine Arts) and Kalanjali (Performing Arts) in which thirty events are being hosted at all the constituent colleges of the University from 10th-24th October,2019.
The opening day started with the Literary Segment -Saahityam of Elocution , Poetry Recitation , Debate and Essay Writing wherein students from all the Constituent Colleges and PGI Schools made eloquent presentations in different languages with full Zeal and vigour. The jury comprised of Prof M A Wani, Dr A R Manhas , Dr Garima Gupta , Dr Shallini Sharma , Dr Ritu Magotra, Prof Seema Mir , Prof Anupama Sharma and Prof Renu Nanda.
Prof Archana Koul , Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, conducted proceedings of the event while Dr Banpreet Kour, Associate Dean Students Welfare along with Dr Davinder Kour, Cultural Coordinator, CLUJ, coordinated the event.
In Essay writing competition, Aditi Kahluria (GCOE) , Haneet Kour ( School of Social Sciences) and Aaina Sharma (GCW Gandhi Nagar) secured the Ist, IInd and IIIrd positions, respectively . Aanchal Bharti (GGM Science College) , Prerna Sharma (School of Liberal Arts and Humanities) and Harshit Lochan (Govt SPMR College of Commerce) bagged the Ist, IInd and IIIrd prizes, respectively in the Elocution contest while Kaneez Fatima (GCW Gandhi Nagar) , Shafia Sadeeq ( School of Liberal Arts and Humanities ) and Akshat Padha (GGM Science College ) were declared Ist, IInd and IIIrd, respectively in the Debate Competition. In the Poetry recitation competition, Priyanka Devi ( School of Sciences), Mohsina Aslam (GCW Gandhi Nagar ) and Ravinder Kumar (GCOE) clinched the Ist, IInd and IIIrd prizes respectively.
