Cluster University organizes placement drive at GGM Science College

JAMMU, Jan 29: The Directorate of Placement, Cluster University of Jammu, in collaboration with Department of Botany and Career Counselling and Placement Cell GGM Science College, organized a placement drive in association with Gramik, an agribased start-up dedicated to upgradation of traditional agricultural system on modern lines and empowerment of farmers.
The event was organized under the guidance and patronage of the Principal of GGM Science College Prof Romesh Kumar Gupta. About 80 students of Botany subject participated in this placement drive to explore career opportunities in agribusiness sector.
A rigrous selection process was carried out by the representatives of the Gramik Company and 20 students were shortlisted for the interview. Initially, the selected candidates will have to undergo a three months internship programme during which they will be entitled for a monthly stipend of Rs 9000 and subsequently there will be a full time placement within the organization.
While interacting with students, representatives from Gramik, Simran Bedi, Senior Manager and Gagandeep, Assistant Manager HR, briefed the students about the start-up mission and career opportunities and future prospects with Gramik Company.
Dr B P Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Botany lauded the efforts of Placement Cell, Cluster University of Jammu and Gramik Company for providing a door-step placement opportunity to the students of GGM Science College. Highlighting the importance of Corporate sector in providing job opportunities and reducing unemployment, Dr Devinder Kumar Sharma, Convener Career Counselling and Placement Cell, GGM Science College, motivated the students to explore corporate sector for suitable career options and not to depend on Govt jobs only.
Prof D S Manhas, Director Placement Cell, Cluster University of Jammu, also interacted with the students on this occasion and expressed his satisfaction over overwhelming response from the students and successful culmination of the placement drive.
The whole event was conducted by the faculty of Botany, GGM Science College.
