*Emoluments of Imams enhanced

SRINAGAR, May 7 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also Chairman J&K Muslim Waqaf Board today directed for conducting special administrative and financial audit of the Board. He said on the basis of the report of the Vice Chairman of the Board, terms and references for the special audit should be fixed and the audit completed within the period of six months.
Chairing 15th meeting of Board of Directors of J&K Board for Muslim Waqafs and Specified Waqaf Properties here, Omar said that the findings of the special audit team, to be comprised of two members from the Government and one from the Waqaf Board should be placed before the Board, for further action.
The Chief Minister also gave nod to the enhancement of emoluments of Imams from present Rs. 3000-6000 slabs to Rs. 5000-10000 slabs. He also approved personal promotions to the employees of the Waqaf Board.
Omar asked the Board to enhance its reach to needy, destitute, orphan, widows and poor to ameliorate their lot and help rehabilitation. He said the scholarships for meritorious poor and deserving students should also be categorized.
The Chief Minister also directed for bringing all proposals involving financial implications through the Finance Committee for final decision in the Board.
He directed for ascertaining the feasibility of establishment of Bibi Haleema College of Nursing and Medical Technology at the proposed sites of Kathi Darwaza, Srinagar and Darya-ud-Din Sahib Ganderbal by a team of experts. He asked the Board to seek the expert advice from IIIM and SUKAST for establishing a farm for cultivation of medicinal plants at Baba Reshi.
Directed for open expression of interest for illumination project for the Asar-e-Sharief Hazratbal Shrine, Omar said that all development works of shrines and Waqaf properties should be put to open tendering process. He also stressed for maintaining and conserving Waqaf assets and keeping up-to-date record registries of the assets and other matters.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Vice Chairman, Waqaf Board,. M. Y. Qadri, Members of the Waqaf Board, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and various other senior officers.
The meeting reviewed the action taken report of the decisions taken in the 14th meeting. Matters relating to the establishment of Bibi Haleema Nursing College, establishment of a farm at Baba Reshi for cultivation of medicinal plants, setting up of i-schooling facilities in some Waqaf Schools, demands of employees, merit-cum-poverty scholarships for students, creation of posts, academic programmes and establishment of medical laboratory and radio diagnostic centre, were also discussed in the meeting.
The Vice Chairman Waqaf Board explained the agenda items in detail and sought Board’s nod regarding various proposals.
