JAMMU, Apr 24: After the killing of a polling staff member at Shopian, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tonight hoped that the Election Commission will move swiftly to reassure all polling staff and at the same time redirect forces to plug any gap.
As two Lok Sabha constituencies of Kashmir-Srinagar and Baramulla are yet to go to polls on April 30 and May 7, Omar hoped that the polling staff would be reassured by the Election Commission of all possible security measures for remaining two phases of elections.
He also hoped that the Election Commission will redirect forces to plug any gaps.
“At the same time my prayers go out to those security personnel and officials injured in this attack. May they make a complete recovery. My condolences to the family of the deceased Polling Officer Zia-ul-Haq Wani,” Omar said in tweets late tonight.
