CM for redoubling ration supply to Valley

JAMMU, Sept 13: Asserting that restoration of essential services and public utilities on war footing forms the priority of Government in present scenario, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that focus is on timely and adequate supply of relief to the people in distress.
He was speaking at a meeting held to review the ongoing relief and restoration works at Srinagar today. He asked the concerned departments to redouble their efforts and ensure that relief is provided to the people.
MoS Home, Sajjad Ahamed Kichloo, MoS, Irrigation & Flood Control, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Union Home Secretary, Anil Goswami, Chief Secretary, Iqbal Khandey, DGP, K. Rajindra and other senior officers of police and civil administration were present in the meeting.
He took comprehensive review of the restorations works undertaken by the line departments to restore the vital services in the State.
On restoration of power infrastructure, Chief Minister said that 85 percent power supply has been restored in Jammu region while 60 percent power supply in Kashmir division has been restored so far. He assured that that cent percent power supply will be restored across Jammu division within fifteen days.
Chief Minister directed Commissioner SMC to mobilise men and machinery to revamp the efforts to launch a full fledged cleanliness drive and asked to ensure stocks of chorine tablets. He said other water treatment measures should reach people in adequate quantity to put a check on water borne diseases. He said that State Government will extend all help to check spread of diseases.
The District Development Commissioners have been authorised to access the ground situation and take a decision pertaining to opening of educational institutions in their respective districts so that students can start their education.
Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the concrete steps taken by administration in Kupwara, Bandipora and Baramulla.
Earlier, Chief Minister during his visit to South Kashmir  reviewed the road network of Sinthan Top which is presently being utilitized to ferry essential commodities and supplies for valley. He also assessed the progress of relief and rescue operations in the flood affected areas of South Kashmir. The DDC Anantnag briefed Chief Minister on the present flood situation and relief, rescue measures being undertaken.
Chairman J&K Bank informed that almost 147 out of 300 branches are working and efforts have been redoubled to make other branches functional. He said that branches of J&K bank at Rajbagh, Humhama, Rawalpora, Sanatnagar are working. CM instructed him to provide mobile banking facilities to the people and fast tract operationalization of banks.
