CMO orders probe into ‘medical negligence’

SRINAGAR, July 19: In response to claims of medical negligence brought forth by a family against doctors at District Hospital, Handwara about the death of an infant, the Chief Medical Officer Kupwara today ordered an investigation and gave the participants 24- hours to produce information.
A day after a family accused the doctors at District Hospital Handwara of medical malpractice that, in their opinion, led to the death of the unborn child, an investigation has been ordered.
The order states that the “following team of officers or officials is hereby established to conduct an impartial investigation into the death and provide the details report within 24 hours in light of the infant (baby) death at District Hospital Handwara that has gone viral on social media as well.”
The members of the investigation team are Dr. Firdous Ahmad Shiekh, Consultant Pediatrician at SDH Sogam, Dr. Sheikh Iqbal, Consultant Physician at SDH Kupwara; and Gynecologist Dr. Farooq Quareshi (Block Medical Officer, Tanghdar.
