Chief Minister is happy with the improvement of health services in the State. In particular, she is happy over the dedication shown by medical fraternity towards their profession and duty of rendering support to the masses of people. It is no small a thing to have two AIIMS, five Medical Colleges, many Nursing Colleges and research centres coming up in the State. But this is not the end of pursuit for medical facilities. Actually it is the building of infrastructure that will give boost to expansion of medical facilities in our State. Addressing the 34th annual day function of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar, the Chief Minister said the doctors and paramedics from the State have displayed their genius within the country and abroad. It is a fact that our doctors and paramedical staff are next to none and they have the capability of making great achievements and winning laurels. While we endorse the observations of the Chief Minister, we would like to make it clear to the Health Department that with expansion of medical services, the need of the hour is to improve the services in the hospitals especially in district and far flung hospitals in the State. In that area we are lagging behind and the deficiencies need to be removed.
