NEW DELHI : The CBI today named Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla and a former Coal Secretary in its fresh case registered in connection with alleged irregularities in allocation of coal blocks.
The CBI sources said the case has been registered against the then Coal Secretary PC Parekh, Hindalco, Mr Birla and some other unknown officials and persons.
The premier probe agency was also conducting searches at Delhi, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad and Mumbai in connection with the case.
The case was related to Talabira II coal block in Odisha’s Jasukuda district which was allotted in 2005.
The sources said the case has been registered under Section 120B IPC r/w Section 13 PC Act.
This is the 14th FIR registered by the CBI in connection with the coal block allocation scam.
