Srinagar, Apr 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has said that the party will take out a protest march to Civil Secretariat on the day when Government offices re-open in Srinagar next week and observe black day.
The decision in this regard was taken in a Congress convention held here today. The convention was presided over by its president, G A Mir. It was unanimously resolved to observe May 5 as Black Day against what it said the unholy coalition between PDP and BJP.
“Congress workers of the Valley will take out procession and march towards the Secretariat where they will protest against the unholy coalition between these two parties,” Mir said.
The convention attended by various party leaders in Srinagar expressed deep concern over that it called politics of opportunism by PDP in forging an unholy alliance with BJP for the sake of power.
Mir in his address said the two ideologically opposite parties with no common agenda except sharing power, joined hands, ignoring the aspirations and wishes of their electorate. “The PDP gained the sympathy and support of the people on the slogan to keep the RSS-driven BJP away from the corridors of power while the BJP did the opposite in Jammu region to secure the one sided votes by rousing the religious and regional emotions of the people on the promise of giving a Chief Minister of Jammu besides abrogation of Article 370 and Citizenship rights to the West Pakistan refugees,” he said.
The PCC chief said that Congress will expose both the parties for their anti- poor and anti- people policies. He termed the attitude of both the parties very unfortunate and embarrassing. “We will not allow them (PDP -BJP) to further mislead the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said.
The Congress party in Srinagar resolution alleged that the present coalition has harped on a agenda in furtherance of their pre-poll strategy to keep and maintain their respective constituencies by taking contradictory stands on various sensitive issues to divert the attention of the people from their opportunistic decisions and inept delivery system of the Government.”As a result, there is a large scale resentment and unrest amongst the people of the state especially Kashmir region”, resolution said.
“This coalition has vitiated the atmosphere in the Kashmir Valley by their contradictory decisions on various sensitive issues with no clear policy to deal with the situation. The recent incidents of militants strikes and innocent killings have further shaken the confidence of the people in and outside of the State about the stability of the security environment in the Valley, it said.
The resolution also targeted the Government over the recent recruitment policy of the government. It said the recent recruitment policy of adhocism without any direction or logic except greater scope for favoritism, nepotism and undue harassment besides depriving the downtrodden sections and categories of their bonafied rights has caused frustration and unrest amongst the educated unemployed youth who are agitating against this policy.
“The failure of the Coalition Government to adopt any policy towards regularization of daily wagers and other such categories of workers besides non-payment of salaries for months to several categories of employees has led to great resentment amongst these sections of people for justified reasons, ” it said.
“This convention reaffirms itself to the principles of Congress party and resolves to uphold the unity and integrity of the State by fostering religious harmony and brotherhood and takes pledge to fight the communal and divisive forces in the State and defeat their designs of spreading hatred and disunity amongst the people”, the convention resolved.
