KUPWARA, Aug 4: International Gurjar Mahasaba (IGM) president Col (retd) Dev Anand Gurjar showed concern over the problems being faced by the students in Teetwal area of Karnah tehsil of Kupwara district.
Col Gurjar in a statement issued after returning of his 10 day tour of border areas in Kashmir said that the children of class 9th and 10th in the area have to face many problems in going to their school as there is no High School nearby. He said from Murchan village near Teetwal the High School facility is 13 kilometre away at Bhaderkot.
He said, while holding meeting with local residents of the area they informed that the people in this border belt face shortage of drinking water as well as there is no proper road connectivity and the students of 9th and 10th class have to travel 13 kilometers for schooling. He said this information was given to him by the prominent people of the area and Sarpanch Chowdhary.
Col Gurjar said that he was informed that the students going to seek education to the nearby High School which is 13 km away have to pass through dense forests which too sans road facility.
Col Gurjar also talked to the students of the area and later took up the issue with the Chief Education Officer of Kupwara.
He said there are primary and middle schools in the area but for High School the students have to face enormous difficulties. He said, while travelling to school via jungle the students often face the threat of wild animals.
He said the issue besides the Chief Education Officer Kupwara was also threadbare discussed with DC Kupwara and they assured that the problem will be solved at the earliest.
Imtiyaz Gurjar Choudhary, Danish Gurjar Choudhary, Rafiq Chichi, Choudhary Jhangir Chouhan, Master Mehmood Chouhan, Choudhary Majid Gurjar, Muneer Gurjar, Maksood Khatana and many others attended the meeting.
