KATHUA Dec 17: In a significant move to address the long-standing healthcare needs of the people in Dhar Jankher and surrounding areas, the construction of a new Primary Health Centre (PHC) building was inaugurated today by Col.(retd) Mahan Singh, Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC), Kathua. The ceremony saw the participation of hundreds of residents, including women and youth, who gathered to witness the momentous occasion.
The inauguration event was graced by several prominent figures, including Tajinder Singh Goldy, the local DDC Member, Sushma Karyal, BDC Chairperson, Naresh Thakur, Rattan Chand, Rajinder Singh (Sarpanch), Ashok Singh, Mahesh Singh, Prem Dogra, and others.
The new health care facility, being built at an estimated cost of Rs 2.5 crores under the NABARD scheme, will be executed by the Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Basohli. The construction will take place on approximately four Kanal of land, which has been generously donated free of cost by local farmer Heem Chand of Sachhar village.
Upon his arrival at the venue, Col. Mahan was warmly welcomed by the crowd. He then cut the ribbon and performed the traditional coconut breaking ceremony, amid chants of slogans by the gathered residents.
Speaking at the event, Col. Mahan expressed his sincere gratitude to the Modi Government, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State, and Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha for their support in providing the necessary funds for this vital healthcare infrastructure project. He emphasized that the DDC Kathua, under his leadership, remains committed to the development and well-being of the people of Kathua, especially those living in remote and underdeveloped areas.
Col. Mahan highlighted the ongoing and completed development projects in the district, which aims to improve the living standards of the people. Additionally, he informed the residents about the various initiatives underway to promote tourism in the scenic Dhar Mahanpur region.
He asserted that this new health facility is a crucial step in providing better healthcare services to the people of Dhar Jankher and its neighboring areas, ensuring that residents have access to essential medical care in a timely and efficient manner.
