Cold nights return to Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 28: The clear skies across Kashmir have led to sub-zero night temperatures across Valley.
Srinagar recorded the minimum temperature of minus 1.9 degree Celsius, down by nearly two degrees from the previous night’s zero degree Celsius.
Kupwara in North Kashmir registered a low of minus 2.7 degree Celsius, a drop of nearly a degree from the previous night’s minus 1.8 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Kokernag town in South settled at 0.8 degree Celsius as compared to the previous night’s 2.9 degree.
Qazigund in South Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.8 degree Celsius against yesterday’s 1.2 degree Celsius.
Gulmarg in North Kashmir registered a low of minus 0.6 degree Celsius, slightly up from the previous night’s minus 0.8 degree Celsius.
Pahalgam in South Kashmir registered a minimum of minus 3 degree Celsius, a decrease of two degree from yesterday.
Leh was recorded to be the coldest place in the region with the minimum temperature touching minus 8.6 degree Celsius, a drop of over five degrees.
The minimum temperature in Jammu city was recorded at 8.6 degree Celsius today, Katra recorded 11.7 degree Celsius, Batote recorded 8.6 degree Celsius, Banihal 4.5 and Bhaderwah 4.5.
Srinagar recorded maximum day temperature of 13. 8 degree Celsius while normal day temperature for this time off the year is 12 degree Celsius, Qazigund recorded 15 degree Celsius, Pahalgam 13.1 degree Celsius, Kupwara 14.4 degree Celsius, Kokernag 14. 7degree Celsius and Leh 7.1 degree Celsius.
The day temperatures in Jammu city was recorded at 24. 7 degree Celsius, while it was 23.9 degree Celsius in Katra town, 21. 5 degree Celsius in Batote, 25.5 degree Celsius in Banihal and 20.5 degree Celsius in Bhaderwah town.
A thick layer of fog continued to engulf many areas in the Valley and the MeT Department has forecast cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain or snow at isolated places in the higher reaches of Kashmir and Ladakh over the next 24 hours.
