RAJOURI, June 12: Up in arms against the new guidelines issued by Jammu University for admission in 5th semester, students of PG College Rajouri and Thannamandi Degree College held separate protest demonstrations, here today.
The protesting students blocked road and raised slogans demanding rollback of the notification released by Jammu University, dated June 7, 2024.
The students expressed their strong resentment against the new guidelines, which they termed as unfair and detrimental to their academic futures.
“We are protesting because the new guidelines will adversely affect our chances of admission and future opportunities,” said one of the student leaders at PG College Rajouri. “We urge the university to reconsider and revoke the notification,” he added.
The students vowed to continue their protests until the university addresses their demand.
Pertinent to mention that as per the Jammu University notification, students of its affiliated colleges must have fully passed their 1st and 2nd semesters, achieved at least 50 percent of the credits in the 3rd semester, and fully passed the internal assignments of the 4th semester to be eligible for admission in the 5th semester.
