College teachers apprise Akbar Lone of demands

JAMMU, Oct 13:  A delegation of J&K College Teachers Association called on Minister for Higher Education, Mohd Akbar Lone and discussed with him various issues and demands of the cadre.
The delegation, led by  CTA president Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta, demanded parity in superannuation age of College Teachers with the University Teachers, measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education, early retrospective placement of teachers in higher scales as per amended SRO-423,  placement of Assistant Professors who have completed three years in AGP of Rs 8000 as Associate Professors, extending the benefit of SRO 222 to College Teachers, processing of pending placement cases, framing of Career Advancement Scheme rules,  holding of interview for Principals and deputation of eligible College Principals/Teachers to BOPEE/BOSE/SSRB.
The Minister assured to look into all these demands for positive consideration.
Earlier, Dr Avinash Gupta also discussed with the Secretary Higher Education Department, Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed, the issue of grant of advance increments to college teachers as per UGC clarification, extending benefit of SRO-222 to College teachers, placement of teachers in PB-4 and framing of CAS rules.
The delegation comprised of representatives of teachers from Jammu as well as Kashmir.
