College teachers apprise Education Minister of their demands

JAMMU, Mar 11: A joint delegation of College Teachers Association, led by the president CTA Jammu wing, Dr Sanjay Verma and president Srinagar wing, Dr Tariq Ashai, called on the Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar, here today.
The delegation submitted a memorandum of demands to the Minister, apprising him of various issues and concerns of the college teaching cadre.  The memorandum consisted of the demands, like removal of anomalies in SRO-124, enhancing the age of superannuation, creation of post of Professor in colleges, transparent transfer policy, implementation of UGC norms, permission for part time Ph D, extending the benefits of SRO-222 to the college teachers and changing the nomenclature of PTI in college as per UGC norms.
The CTA also raised the demand of issuance of order of placement of teachers in different higher grade and stressed the need to expedite the same. The Minister was informed that the placement orders were pending for the last two years and the teachers had to suffer for no fault of theirs.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the CTA and assured that all their demands would be positively considered.
The delegation comprised of Prof M S Saini, Prof D S Manhas, Dr Anil Ganjoo, Dr Sunil Gupta, Prof Narayan Dutt and others.
