JAMMU, Jan 16: A delegation of College Teachers Association, led by the president CTA Jammu, Prof D S Manhas, called on Jammu University Vice Chancellor to discuss various issues related to college teachers.
CTA raised the issue of allowing the college teachers to act as guide and co-guides for pursuing research, which is an important component for teachers to enhance their academic skills and educational acumen and to contribute towards knowledge and academic improvement.
CTA also demanded the restoration of various posts, which were earlier being represented by the college teachers, such as Controller of Examination, Director College Development etc. Besides, it was also urged that the process of selection of various posts such as Registrar, Controller of Examination, and Director College Development etc should be expedited as interviews for these posts have not been conducted for a long period of time now.
The CTA also demanded reservation of seats for wards of college teachers in each of the PG Departments of the university, enhancement of the rates of remuneration for the conduct of examination duties, exemption to the college teachers from entrance test for Ph D registration, separate examination calendar for winter zone colleges of Jammu division, involving maximum number of college teachers in evaluation duty, clearance of pending bills of college teachers and advance payment for practical examination.
The Vice Chancellor gave a patient hearing and assured that he would look into the issues raised by the Association.
The CTA delegation comprised of Dr Anil Ganjoo, Dr Jagjit Singh, Dr Surinder Sharma, Prof Mala Bhasin, Dr Revika Arora, Prof Rakesh Sharma, Dr Davinder Kour and Dr Sandhya Bhardwaj.
