JAMMU, Jan 31: A delegation of College Teachers Association (CTA) led by its president Dr Rakesh Jasrotia called on Financial Commissioner, Arun Kumar Mehta and highlighted the long pending demand pertaining to restoration of non-compounded advance increments for higher educational qualifications (PhD/MPhil).
In the meeting, the association urged the Financial Commissioner to restore the increments as the incentives of increments for higher qualifications withdrawn on the recommendations of ‘UGC Pay Review Committee Report’ were restored by the UGC in its regulations, notified in the month of July, 2018 after two months.
It was also brought into the notice of the Financial Commissioner that however, the same increments have been restored by the all Universities in Jammu and Kashmir including Central Universities of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Director General (Codes) of the Finance department who was also present in the meeting, briefed him also about the current status of the file regarding the said issue.
After listening to the delegation demands’ patiently, the Financial Commissioner asserted that the increments for higher qualifications form part of ‘UGC Regulations-2018’ and directed the Higher Education department to view the issue holistically and submit the file implementing the UGC regulations-2018 in totality at the earliest for the early resolution of the issue, raised by the College Teachers Association.
Thereafter, the association also met with the Secretary Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella regarding the same issue and he assured the delegation for the early action for the resolution of the same issue and will soon submit the file to the Finance Department.
