JAMMU, Dec 3: The Jammu and Kashmir College Teachers Association (JKCTA), Jammu Wing, led by its president, Dr Rakesh Jasrotia, called on Minister of Higher Education, Sakina Itoo and submitted a memorandum highlighting the urgent need to address long-standing issues affecting college teachers in the Union Territory.
According to a press release, issued by JKCTA, the Minister assured that all pending service-related issues of the college teachers would be resolved at the earliest. She also confirmed that the matter of restoring PhD advance increments has been positively considered in the last meeting and is now in its final stage of approval.
The association reiterated its key demands, which include enhancing the retirement age to 65 years, timely processing of career advancements and arrears, adoption of UGC Regulations 2018, and the introduction of professorship under the Career Advancement Scheme. Additionally, the need for a streamlined policy for full-time and part-time PhD research, along with improvements to the online transfer system, was emphasized.
JKCTA president Dr Jasrotia said that the resolution of these matters will uplift the morale of college teachers and strengthen the foundation of higher education in the region.
