College teachers resent no monetary benefit to promotees from date of DPC

JAMMU, Apr 19: College fraternity across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir today strongly resented against the alleged flawed and unjust order issued by Higher Education Department for placements of 139 Assistant Professors, Librarians and Physical Training Instructors(PTI) vide Govt order number 201 JK(HE)of 2020 dated 16/04/2020.
The whole fraternity has strongly condemned the order, which ensured only notional benefits to them from the due date of their placement and monetary benefits from the date of DPC meeting, which was held on February 19, 2020 after a gap of almost 3 years, whereas it should have been convened every six months as per rules.
According to a statement by college Teachers Association, these placements are time-bound and College teachers get the benefits from the due date of their placements to higher AGP as guaranteed by UGC regulations and SRO 124 issued by Govt of Jammu and Kashmir. It is also highly astonishing that this unjust order has been issued when whole the country is under lockdown because of COVID-19 pandemic and teachers are taking online classes and hence are not in a position to represent themselves.
Such an unjust order that causes the huge monetary loss to the college teachers for none of their fault shall not be accepted by them, said the CTA, which has also emailed representations to MoS to PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, Lt Governor J&K G C Murmu, Advisor(S) Secretary HED, with the request for an immediate revocation of the order which is not only unjust but also against the existing UGCs guidelines and J&K recruitment rules pertaining to Higher Education Gazetted service.
Dr Rakesh Jasrotia, President CTA Jammu wing has telephonically conveyed the resentment of college fraternity against this flawed order to Advisor (S) and Secretary Higher Education, who assured necessary action for full monetary benefits to the college teachers from the due date of their placement after taking concurrence of Finance Department within a week time. Secretary HED further assured that DPC for all the remaining cases of placement/promotion shall be held soon so that there is no backlog of due cases of placement.
