Combat drug abuse, trafficking: SSP Baramulla

SRINAGAR, July 7: SSP Baramulla, Amod Ashok Nagpure today instructed the officers in the district to combat drug abuse and trafficking while emphasizing the need for adopting a public-centric approach.
He passed these directions during a meeting held at District Police Lines Baramulla, aimed to review and discuss various challenges related to policing and security in the region.
Officers delved into crucial topics including anti-terrorist operations, disposal of pending UAPA/NDPS cases, security of vulnerable individuals, and the generation of human intelligence (humint) and technical intelligence (techint).
With a focus on prevention, the officers were urged to take necessary measures to combat drug abuse and trafficking, as well as address social crimes and cybercrimes.
The attendees comprised officials such as SP Hqrs Baramulla, DySP Hqrs Baramulla, SDPOs of Pattan, Uri, Kreeri, and Tangmarg, DySPs of Police Control Rooms, DySPs of the District Armed Reserve, SHOs, and In-charge Police Posts from District Baramulla.
During the meeting, each officer provided an overview of the security situation in their respective areas and briefed SSP Baramulla on the security measures being implemented to counter potential threats.
Stressing the significance of a strong counter-insurgency and security grid, SSP Baramulla emphasized the need for stringent action against individuals involved in anti-national activities and emphasized the importance of proper surveillance in sensitive areas.
In addition, the officers were instructed to promptly address public grievances and adopt a public-centric approach in their work. They were also directed to take action against those engaging in illegal excavation of minerals, which has been a concern in the region.
