Combating vector borne diseases

The crisis of COVID-19 pandemic has virtually left little energy back to put up with other diseases which are as a result of bites from mosquitoes, ticks, fleas etc which cause dreaded dengue fever as also malaria and are generally called as vector borne diseases. In this connection, High Court has directed Municipal Corporations of Jammu and Srinagar for preparing an action plan to combat vector borne diseases as the approaching season is ripe for transmission of infections from mosquitoes and other parasites to human beings.
Prudence and able administration demand that in anticipation of problems, as in the instant case, rainy season following the current one and that being critical, necessary preparations were made which include mainly preventive measures. All towns and other vulnerable places needed to be identified and necessary steps taken to prevent outbreak of any type of associated diseases. The Division Bench of the High Court in this connection, has directed that both the Municipal Corporations drew up an action plan and that “the status and action taken report on the issue flagged by the applicants and by us be filed before the next date of hearing.”
