SRINAGAR, July 2: Senior vice president of People’s Conference and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil has said that although Lt Governor led administration has assured a relief package in cash for daily wage labourers including Auto, Taxi drivers and horse-cart owners to help them to mitigate the financial burden arising out of the Coronavirus outbreak in Jammu and Kashmir but Govt has failed to address these poor people who live their lives feed their families on daily earnings and left them in lurch.
“It is surprising and unfortunate that Govt is not releasing wages to those daily wagers also who are working in different departments espcially PDD, PHE, PWD, Agriculture, Fisheries etc who make the departments functional and serve people day and night and the poor people are worst hit by Covid-19 lock down but Government is looking like a mute spectator and the poor daily wagers are left to die,” Vakil said.
“It is responsibility of the administration to help these poor people to restore their life and livelihood especially those who make their both ends meet on daily earnings,” Vakil added.
He urged the Lt Governor to focus his attention towards daily wagers with seriousness and to come with comprehensive relief plan for all those people who have badly suffered during the lockdown as they have no source of income except daily earnings.
