Commerce College students exhibit knowledge of freedom struggle

JAMMU, Aug 7: NSS Units, Cultural and Literary Committee in collaboration with Department of English of the Government SPMR College of Commerce today organized essay writing competition on the topic “Freedom Struggle” to inspire a deeper understanding of the history among the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Prof (Dr) Rajinder Singh praised the high calibre of submissions and said that the essays were impressive in their depth and originality. The students showcased a profound understanding of the multifaceted nature of freedom struggles throughout history, he said and hoped that such events will encourage young people to appreciate the significance of freedom and engage more actively in discussions about its relevance today.
The first position was bagged by Isha of Semester 3 while as second and third prizes were awarded to Sugam Mehra and Tanishka Mehra respectively. The panel of judges consisted of Dr Reena Rani (HoD Economics) and Dr Chetna Gupta from the Department of English.
The entire programme was organised and coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Dr Deepshikha Sharma and Dr Deepak Pathania along with Prof Shaji Khan.
