JAMMU, Dec 16: Secretary, Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation along with Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, visited Durga Nagar today to ascertain the problems of displaced people from Valley putting up in the area.
A function was held on the occasion and Ravinder Bakshi, chairman of the Committee read the welcome address and president of the Committee, Roshan Lal Raina read out the memorandum and highlighted the problems of the displaced people. He demanded enhancement of relief, construction of 1000 quarters at Purkhoo, providing of Government quarters and security to PM package employees living in rented accommodations in the Valley, waving of ban on basic pay policy of SRO 194, granting of promotion to PM package employees, release of remaining ex-gratia for gutted property in Valley, and providing of basic facilities to non camp areas.
He also demanded removing of encroachments from migrants property in Valley and their religious places, providing 15 kanals of land for Higher Secondary School at Durga Nagar, sanctioning one Kanal of land for construction of tube well at Durga Nagar, sanctioning of Rs two lakh for community Hall, establishing a dispensary at Durga Nagar, adjustment of Statistical assistants whose names are in waiting list and providing ration of November and pending months, etc.
The two officers assured the residents of the area that their demands are under the consideration of Government.
Others who spoke in the meeting included P K Raina, Prem Nath, B B Bhat (Gosani) M K Razdan, Moti Lal Atma and Bihari Lal. Bushan Lal Raina proposed vote of thanks. The stage was managed by Makhan Lal Bhat.
