JAMMU, Feb 29: Director Health Services (DHS), Jammu, Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania, constituted a committee comprising of Paediatric, ENT, Orthopaedic, Psychiatric, Eye Specialists and Epidemiologist to investigate cases of Congenital/Acquired Defects/ Deformities in children at Industrial Area, Govindsar, Kathua and to ascertain the cause and to recommend specific actions in response to Chief Medical Officer Kathua’s communication.
The committee examined 37 affected children of the area on February 1 and submitted a detailed report. However, it found no groups of similar clinical presentations. Of all 37 children, 15 cases have permanent disability, of these permanent disability cases, 1 is with acquired problem i.e. Post Polio Residual Paralysis, 4 cases with Congenital and 10 cases with developmental defects.
The Committee recommended investigations to rule out diet, environmental and delivery related problems.
