Committee framed on liquor licenses, other issues

JAMMU, May 17: Excise Commissioner, Vineeta Gupta today constituted a committee for fixation of Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of liquor and handling other issues of the Excise Department.
According to the order, in supersession of earlier orders a standing committee of officers has been constituted to aid and advise the Excise Commissioner in cases relating to grant of different kinds of licenses for examination by the committee for final screening/classification of new brands of IMFL into Deluxe, Premium, Medium and Economy/cheap brands to be sold in J&K/fixation of MRP of liquor before submitting these to Excise Commissioner.
However, the Excise Commissioner can at any time refer any matter (toll/administrative) to the committee for examination and for making recommendations in the light of the rules.
Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive Jammu is the convenor of the committee while as Deputy Excise Commissioners, Accounts,  Distilleries and Toll Post Lakhanpur are its members. The Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive Kashmir will also be co-opted as a member in the Kashmir Division related cases/issues. Additionally, the Committee may co-opt two Excise and Taxation Officers as member, if and when required, the order said.
The minimum quorum of the committee relating to grant of different kinds of licenses for final screening before submitting these to the Licensing Authority will be three including the chairman, the order said, adding in issues relating to fixation of MRP of liquor as well as classification of new brands of IMFL into Deluxe, Premium, Medium and Economy/Cheap brands to be sold in J&K, the departmental chemist will be the additional member of the committee.
Similarly, the minimum quorum of the committee for classification of new brands of IMFL into Deluxe, Premium, Medium and Economy/Cheap brands as well as fixation of MRPs of liquor will be three members including the Chairman and two co-opted members.
