Committee on Govt Assurances inspects development works in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Nov 26: The Committee on Government Assurances today inspected various development works being executed by different departments including R&B, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Railways and National Highway Authority of India in and around Udhampur.
The Committee headed by MLA, Vikar Rasool Wani, included legislators Javaid Hassan Beigh, Dina Nath Bhagat, Devender Kumar Manyal and Pawan Kumar Gupta. Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Niraj Kumar accompanied the Committee during its visit.
The Committee reviewed in detail the status of various ongoing works being executed by different departments in the area.
The Chairman stressed upon the executing agencies to generate employment avenues for the locals besides creating assets under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Regarding the maintenance of national highway, the Chairman said the dumping of the muck should be done only at identified places to avoid traffic congestion on the otherwise busy road.
He also directed the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) to take necessary steps and direct the concerned to reduce dust and pollution along the highway. The Chairman asked the executing agencies to expedite the implementation of various schemes in the area.
Later, the Committee also visited the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel and inspected various ongoing works there.
Project Director (IL &FS) Chenani-Nashri Tunnel Project, J S Rathore gave a detailed power point presentation highlighting the salient features of the   tunnel.
