Committee to monitor progress of transit accommodations, DM projects in J&K

JAMMU, Apr 4: Government today constituted a committee that will monitor the progress of construction of transit accommodations and other disaster management projects under implementation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per an order, the committee would be headed by Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department with Administrative Secretaries of Information Technology Department, PW(R&B) Department, Planning Development and Monitoring Department, Director, Department of Ecology Environment & Remote Sensing, representatives from Finance Department (not below the rank of Additional Secretary) and any other member as may be co-opted by the committee as members and Administrative Secretary, DMRRR Department as Member Secretary.
The committee shall regularly monitor/review the construction of transit accommodations, all disaster management projects, preparedness of GLOF hazard mitigation measures in the Himalayas, identify the bottlenecks, if any, in the implementation of schemes/projects and suggest measures for timely resolution, and ensure coordination amongst various departments/stakeholders in the UT of J&K as well as the relevant ministries/departments in Government of India for better implementation of projects.
“The committee shall submit a monthly progress report to the office of Chief Secretary, J&K,” ordered the Government .
