JAMMU, Nov 21: Government of Jammu and Kashmir today constituted a Union Territory level steering committee as well as district level coordination committees for conducting 7th Minor Irrigation Census, 2nd Census of Water Bodies, 1st Census of Major & Medium Irrigation Projects and 1st Census of Springs in the Union Territory.
As per the Order issued in this connection, Financial Commissioner (Revenue) will be chairman of the UT level steering committee while Administrative Secretary of Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Central) J&K, Deputy Director General, State Head NSSO (Government of India), Director General of Economics & Statistics J&K and Director of Central Water Commission J&K will be members of the committee.
Other members of the UT level committee will be Director Agriculture Jammu/Kashmir, Director Command Area Jammu/Kashmir, Director of Rural Development Department Jammu/Kashmir, Chief Engineer of Irrigation & Flood Control Jammu/Kashmir, Chief Engineer of Jal Shakti (PHE) Jammu/Kashmir and a representative each of Central Ground Water Board (Union Ministry of Water Resources) and Western Regional Himalayan Center Jammu (National Institute Member of Hydrology). Besides, Director (Statistics) with Financial Commissioner (Revenue) J&K will be member secretary of the committee.
For district level coordination committee, Deputy Commissioner concerned will be its chairman whereas Assistant Commissioner Development, Divisional Forest Officer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, concerned Executive Engineer Jal Shakti (PHE), concerned Executive Engineer I&FC and a representative of Central Ground Water Board, Union Ministry of Water Resources will be its members. Moreover, Assistant Soil Conservation Officer will be member secretary of the district level coordination committee.
