SRINAGAR, June 26: Stating that any move aimed at communal polarization of the state is fraught with dangerous consequences for the entire region, CPI (M) State secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami cautioned people to remain vigilant against any mischief to be tried by the BJP ahead of upcoming Assembly elections in the State.
Addressing a huge public rally at Kulgam in South Kashmir, Tarigami said that BJP has always been viewed as sharpening the communal polarization for its vote bank, but it would never succeed in dividing the people on the basis of regional or communal calls.
He said that the BJP agenda is a challenge to the secular democratic fabric of the country particularly to the State of Jammu and Kashmir which is worldwide known for its secular and pluralistic ethos.
“The people must remain cautious about the nefarious designs of the communal forces who are hell bent to put the state on fire for their narrow electoral considerations,” he stressed.
Pointing to the manifestations of mis governance in the state, Tarigami lamented the failure of administration to address the electricity crisis emanating out of damaged transformers in small towns and far off places in the state especially in Valley.
He said that people are made to face the brunt of electricity crisis especially in Kulgam constituency for weeks together in case their electricity transformers develop any mechanical snag.
Referring to many areas of his constituency like Pariwan, Chambgund, Okay, Chattabal, Bongam Kulgam, Ashmuji Mirpora-B etc, Tarigami said that people in these villages of Kulgam constituency are facing severe problems on account of damaged transformers which have become a cause of distress for the entire area.
Demanding Government ration distribution on the basis of latest census (2011), Tarigami said the distribution of ration should cover destitute and all categories of people. The CPI (M) leader remarked that the state will lose ration quota for at least over 25 lakh souls if the department fails to update its distribution list by the census 2011.
Tarigami also expressed serious concern over the damages caused to the orchards and other the farmers in general due to hailstorm and inclement weather.
Similarly he said that Government is yet to take a call on introduction and implementation of much awaited Crop Insurance Scheme (CIS).
He said the scheme will save the fruit growers and agriculturists in the event of losses suffered due to natural calamities.
