Community participation imperative to address serious issues: SSP

JAMMU, Dec 25: A Police-Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting was held at Khairi in Bishnah by Police Station Bishnah today.
The meeting aimed at strengthening police-public relations, was attended by around 300 residents, including youth and women from Gujjar Basti and nearby areas.
The meeting was chaired by SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, accompanied by SP Headquarters Jammu, Irshad Hussain Rather, SDPO RS Pura, Nikhil Gogna, and SHO Bishnah, Sushil Choudhary.
During the meeting, various issues concerning both the police and civil administration were discussed.
Members of the Gujjar community raised their grievances with the SSP, who were assured swift redressal of their concerns.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Jammu stressed the need for community cooperation in addressing serious issues like drug abuse, bovine smuggling and thefts.
He urged the residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, especially given the area’s proximity to the International Border.
The SSP also highlighted the importance of education, sports and Government welfare schemes.
He encouraged the community to engage in dairy farming training programs and adopt modern techniques to boost their income.
The community appreciated the initiative, acknowledging its role in fostering better communication and collaboration between the police and the public. They assured their support in maintaining law and order.
