JAMMU, Nov 5: All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS) has urged upon the Government to provide compensation to Jat community people four times of current market value of the land which has been acquired by the government for projects from Kathua to Rajouri-Poonch.
In a press conference here today Ch. Manmohan Singh, president AIJMS hailed J&K Government for taking up the matter of Jats with Ministry of External Affairs regarding ownership rights of custodian property to the refugees of 1965 and 1971.
“Jats have no other source of income and they survive on the meager land allotted to them years back,” he said.
The Jat leader said that till date the displaced Jat community has been deprived of ownership rights of custodian lands allotted to them after their migration due to which the compensation of the same land which was acquired by the Government for projects was received by the Custodian Department.
Among others present in the press conference were Col. R.L Gangal, Sunil Choudhary, Kamal Randhawa, Vijay Choudhary, Rampal Choudhary, Sukhdev Singh, Surinder Singh and Surjit Singh.
