JAMMU, May 30: All Jammu and Kashmir Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union (ELDU) in a meeting under the presidentship of Tara Chand (M&RE Division No.3) expressed shock over the death of Parshotam Lal, who died while performing his duty.
The speakers said it was a case of clear negligence on the part of department as it denied having received any information to switch on the power of LT Line when the said lineman was working on the pole. They alleged that officials of the department were switching on and off the electricity at their own which became the cause of death of the poor lineman.
Association president appealed the authorities at the helm of affairs to get the matter investigated so that guilty could be booked under law. He also appealed the Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu to grant compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased and appointment of one member of the family of the deceased in his place.
Those who attended the meeting included Vijay Kumar Gupta, Girdhari Lal, Surinder Kumar, Anil Slathia, Ashiq Hussain, Sham Lal, etc.
