Compensation to martyred families

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Army, paramilitary martyrs’  kin in J&K to get all benefits’ DE Oct 15.
The decision of the State Government to extend benefits to families of Army and para-military force personnel of Jammu & Kashmir who attain martyrdom in the State or elsewhere at par with police personnel martyred in J&K is a good step. The Government deserves all appreciation for taking this welfare measure which will surely soothe the hurt feelings of bereaved families to a great extent.
It has been observed that the families of martyred police personnel in J&K would feel heart burn on not receiving the aid which other States would extend to the families of martyred families generously. This humanitarian gesture will go a long way in encouraging people to join armed forces besides helping the bereaved families live a secure and dignified life.
It was reported time and again that the aggrieved families would feel quite anguished over discriminatory attitude of the Government.
And political parties would expolite this situation to their own benefits.
Now when the matter has been settled in favour of martyred families, it would certainly earn good will for the Government.
Yours etc…
