‘Complete construction of KGBV building’

UDHAMPUR, June 24: Social Worker, Pritam Singh of Bhamag, near here today urged upon the Lt. Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu to intervene into the matter regarding completion of Kasturba Gandhi Balika (KGB) Vidhyala building at Basnote for the educating girl students from class 6 to 8.
In a handout he stated that this school was meant for the girls of Below Poverty Line, SC and ST families.
Singh informed that there are 40 girls and 5 teachers in the school with hostel facility along with meal to students accommodated in a nearby school building.
He said that out of sanctioned Rs 90 lakh only 15-20 lakh have been utilized for the school building so far and the construction work has been stopped for the last 4-5 years.
“Time and again we brought the matter to the notice of higher authorities but all in vain,” he maintained adding that the issue was also brought to the notice of former DC Udhampur who agreed that the work would be completed and grants will be released without delay but nothing was done.
Singh appealed to the LG to resolve the issue soon so that poor girls may get education.
