JAMMU, Dec 17: Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, M.K. Dwivedi, today reviewed the status of disbursement of pension under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) and National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) besides taking stock of scholarship schemes being implemented by the department.
Director General, Social Welfare Jammu; Director Finance, Social Welfare Department; FA/CAO, Directorate of Social Welfare Jammu; District Social Welfare Officer Jammu; representatives of NIC and C-DAC besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Commissioner Secretary had a detailed review of component-wise disbursement of pension to the beneficiaries under ISSS and NSAP. He asked the field functionaries to accelerate the process of sanctioning of new 1,30,000 pension cases so that it could be completed by or before 31st of December 2019. He further asked the concerned officers to make sure that all the beneficiaries who are above the age of 70 years and who are physically challenged persons are covered under the pension schemes.
He also assessed the status of applications received by the department under different scholarship schemes and asked for speedy disposal. He stressed on the departmental functionaries to ensure that no eligible student is deprived of scholarships being extended by the department. He asked the department to verify all the pending pension cases at different levels so that the same can be resolved.
Regarding disbursement of pensions and scholarships through DBT mode, the meeting was informed that the concerned officials are facing a lot of issues in uploading and downloading of necessary information in this regard.
Commissioner Secretary asked the officers to take immediate steps for streamlining of the whole process of online updating of requisite data regarding DBT benefit to ensure that all the eligible beneficiaries are provided their pensions and scholarships through DBT mode only.
He exhorted upon the department especially the field functionaries to put in place an effective mechanism ensuring 100 per cent coverage of all eligible beneficiaries under different pension, scholarship and related schemes.
