Compromising core issue

Sir,
This is apropos the statement of Avinash Rai Khanna, BJP national vice president and Prabari J&K during the course of his interaction with the reporters and highlighted in the local print media wherein he asserted that Abrogation of article 370 giving special status to J&K and Construction of Ram Mandir are core issues for BJP and it has neither given up them nor made compromise on them. However , there is no mention ofBJP’s third very significant core issue of enforcing ‘ Uniform civil code’ across the nation. This is purely a political statement made in the back drop of ensuing Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections. At this twilight hour these issues have started haunting them coupled with the compulsion of airing their views in justification for public consumption. In fact they have not done even an iota of needed ground work on their core agenda comprising aforementioned issues. They compromised on article 370/35-A to form Govt. with PDP a hard core Kashmir centric party just to have access to the echelons of power. Power is okay but they frittered away the opportunity to deliver, to redress the grievances of Jammuites and Ladhakhis in relation to Regional discrimination. They had a chance to connect to the masses by virtue of fair delivery of governance and proven credibility but Alas everything was lost in self aggrandizement.
All important emotive issue of Ram Temple linked with religious faith of majority community has been surrendered to the mercy of supreme court. If it is not a priority for the Apex court and the BJP Govt. then why it is raked up time and again for garnering votes in successive elections. This exposes their duality and lust for power like their predecessors and dents their projected image of ‘ Party with a difference. Further the issue of Common Civil Code is of greater national importance and constitutional obligation to thwart population imbalance in the country. Sooner the better BJP realize their double standards and avoid being condemned as political hypocrites.
