We have great sympathy for the visually impaired people in our society and elsewhere. The nature has been very harsh to them by depriving them of their eyesight. It deprives them from enjoying the life in a beautiful world among beautiful people. In Europe, philanthropists and humanists rendered great humanistic service by inventing the Braille machine to facilitate visually impaired people to read and write. It brought great relief and happiness to them because they could through this instrument enjoy the art of reading or writing. Since many decades this machine is used by them in schools and institutes for the visually impaired persons. The good news has come that a new state-of-art Braille machine has been invented which will be supplied to all districts in the State for use by visually impaired students.
The machine will enable these students in reading and writing using computers. At the same time it will enable a user to take printouts of written material in Braille. Using this system, the visually impaired students can read and write even without the supervision of a teacher and also read from material available on the internet. We appreciate that under the scheme of Sarva Shikhsha Abhyan of the Ministry of HRD, these machines will be provided to all District Headquarters in the State for use by the visually impaired children.
It is our social and moral responsibility to provide whatever support is possible to the visually impaired in our State so that they are able to become educated and also earn for themselves through honest work. We have praise for all who are involved in this humanitarian activity. The new facility will bring the visually impaired children closer to us and they will have the feel of being part and parcel of the society they are living in.
The Government deserves kudos for kick starting the training of nearly eight thousand undergraduate teachers in training methodology to make them professionally efficient teachers. This also will have significant impact on the quality of education imparted to student community of the State. It is a big step and after these teachers complete their training course successfully, they should be given due academic recognition impacting their emoluments.
